DCDSB After School Social Skills Programs, for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), will begin the first week of October 2023.
This year, the following programs are being offered:
- PEERS: The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is world-renowned for providing evidence-based social skills treatment to adolescents, and young adults diagnosed with ASD - available for Grade 7 to Grade 12.
- Secret Agent Society: Secret Agent Society is for children ages 8 – 12, and uses spy-themed, gamified learning to improve emotion recognition and regulation, social problem solving and social skills.
- Friendship Lab®: The Friendship Lab is a 10-week, evidence-based, social skills program that helps children improve their peer relationships. Children are taught valuable skills for making and keeping friends through illustrated stories, role play and games. Parent participation is required.
PEERS and Secret Agent Society will be offered once a week at the Giffard Centre, and Friendship Lab will be offered at Sir Albert Love C.S. and online.
