DCPIC Seeks Nominations

Dear DCDSB Families, 

On behalf of myself and all the current members of the Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (DCPIC), welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

As students settle into their classes, DCPIC is also getting ready to continue our ongoing collaboration with the board, beginning with hosting elections for available positions on our committee.

About DCPIC

Led by parents, guardians and caregivers, DCPIC is a formal statutory entity of the Durham Catholic District School Board.

With engagement as its priority, the committee provides ongoing support on a system-wide basis and promotes communication and dialogue between:

  • School Councils
  • The Board
  • The Director of Education
  • The Board of Trustees
  • Members of the community

In accordance with the Ministry of Education, DCPIC’s mandate is to:

  • Support, encourage, and enhance meaningful parent engagement at the board level
  • Improve student achievement and well-being
  • Provide information and advice to the board on parent engagement
  • Communicate with and support local Catholic school councils in the Durham Catholic District School Board
  • Undertake activities to help parents support their children's learning at home and at school

Seeking Committee Members

DCPIC is currently seeking the following members for the 2023-2024 school year:

  • Eight Parent Members (two-year term)
  • Three Community Representatives (one-year term)

Eligibility requirements for the Executive and Community Representatives can be found in the DCPIC Bylaws.

Those interested in seeking election must complete the self-nomination form, which is available online until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Each eligible applicant will then be invited to speak at the in-person DCPIC meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Further details will also be sent to each applicant via email.
